The Pomodoro technique is one option. A traditional Pomodoro uses 25 minutes of focused work followed by a short break, but you can adjust the timing to fit your attention span. If 15 minutes feels easier to start with, use 15. If 35 minutes works better, use 35.
The best study interval is one you can actually start and repeat. During each block, choose one specific task. “Study biology” is vague. “Review cell division and answer five questions” gives your brain a clear finish line.

For some students, having another person present creates useful external structure. It can make starting a task feel less difficult and provide a reason to remain at the desk.
You can use a friend, classmate, study partner, library study space, or virtual study session.
Studying does not have to mean sitting completely still for hours.
Short movement breaks can make a long study session feel easier to manage. Stand up, walk around, stretch, get some water, or briefly change your environment.
You can also use movement as a transition between tasks. For example, after finishing one chapter, take a short walk before starting the next one.
The key is to make the break intentional. A five-minute movement break can easily become a 45-minute scrolling session if you open a distracting app.
The Feynman technique asks you to explain a concept in simple language as though you were teaching it to someone else.
Start with one concept. Explain it without looking at your notes. Notice where your explanation becomes vague, then return to the material and fill that gap.

“Open the document” is small.
“Write the introduction” is more specific.
“Find two sources for the first section” is smaller still.
When a task feels overwhelming, reduce it until the first step feels almost too easy to avoid.
Once you begin, momentum can make the next step easier.
Different study methods solve different problems. Rather than trying every technique at once, choose the one that matches your immediate difficulty.

Start with an amount of time that feels manageable. You can always continue when the timer ends.

Move, stretch, drink water, or rest briefly. Set a timer if breaks tend to become extended.
Before ending the session, write down the next small action. This removes some of the friction when you return.
